NOTD Revlon - Steel her Heart

Hello Everyone...

I am back again with another post, this time actual nail polish post, At last!!! Today, I would be reviewing a Revlon nail polish in the shade "Steel her heart"..


I don't own a lot of Revlon nail polishes because I find their brushes to be thin and they don't dry fast.. I had visited one of the departmental store for my grocery shopping and found this one.. I picked this up instantly, the shade was too different and I loved it!!!

This is a very different metallic shade, between black and grey with no shimmer or glitters in it. I still don't know how to explain this color..  I think it would be better if you see them for yourself :)

This one started chipping after 3 days, not sooo good factor:) But didn't feel like doing another manicure, so topped up the mani with polkas.. Not that perfect (Ran out of toothpicks and my dotting tools are on their way from Cheeeena :D)..

Talking about the pros and cons of the shade, Revlon has good shades of nail polishes, from pearl, creamy, shimmery to metallic ones. They are affordable at 140 INR except for the speedy dry ones that cost 210 INR, which I prefer over the normal ones.

The only con that I find in all Revlon nail polishes that made me hate all revlon nail polishes is their BRUSH..Thin small brush makes application really really difficult.

Overall, I love this nail color and will definitely repurchase.. Talking about rating, I will rate it 3.75/5, -1 for the brush and -.5 for the slow drying nature of the nail polishes

Timepass Mehndi Design :)

Hello Everyone...

This post is dedicated to my sis, Reshmi Ahmed from Lecker and yummy recipies!!!!! Mehndi application was one of my passion form high school till I joined work and lost interest completely.. One of my relatives had asked me to apply mehndi on her hands , it is thenI found that I had lost touch completely and I was taking a very long time even for simple designs.. I stopped applying mehndi on my hands after that..

I came back home after work at 4:00 AM and was damn hungry and was hunting my fridge and guess what, I found a Mehndi cone.. I then thought why not give a try!!!!

Here are some pics for you!!!

Didn't want to try typical Indian design.. Started off with arabian kinda design but messed up :P

But I am glad that it came out well :)

 I removed it 45 minutes post application.. It started falling out but didn't have patience to apply lemon juice :)

Hope it gets a little darker but not black :)

Lakme Fast and Fabulous - Purple Plunge

Hello Everyone...

Today's review would be about Lakme's Fast and Fabulous Nail polish in shade "Purple Plunge".. This was released along with Lakme's absolute range and these nail polishes are awesome.. They have a good range of shades unlike Lakme's usual browns and pinks :) I have 4 nail polishes from their collection and would continue to add more of these to my collection...

The product claims to be:

1. Wet to Set in 40 seconds.
2. Unique brush for one stroke application.

I should say, this is the first Lakme product I've used lives to its claims.. Purple Plunge is a nail polish with a lot of shimmer and sparkles in it and it dries really quick.. Though I have seen the other variants from this range drying in 40 sec and I didn't expect it from this one, basically because of the shimmers in it..  Shimmery and glittery nail polishes take ages to dry.. I actually touched a nail say after 30 seconds of the first coat and it was really dry!!!

It costs 175 INR, but worth every single penny.. Read on to know why!!

The shade looks kinda blue in the pics, but it's a beautiful shade close to lavender but not  actually lavender :) The cam is not picking up the right color :(

Talking about the pros and cons, I absolutely love this nail polish for the following reasons:

1. Lives to it's claims
2. Awesome brush. Good Job Lakme!!!!
3. The shade cannot be prettier. Didn't streak or clump!!
4. Smooth finish, unlike other glitter nail polishes..

I think this shade would suit all skin tones.. It's a must have in your collection.. I would rate it 5/5.. It cannot be any better!!!

Street Wear Nail Polish - Tinted Gold

Hello Everyone...

Today I would be reviewing about a Street wear nail polish.. Street wear was one of my favorite brands when I was in college .. I had a couple of their lipsticks with a transparent case and a mirror on it, a few lip glosses .. After I was exposed to other brands like Maybelline, L'Oreal, Revlon etc, I never looked at Street wear.

A few months ago, I had reviewed the teeny tiny street wear nail polishes.. I found them good for the price.. I liked the old ones better ( The slim elongated bottles).. Back then I didn't have nails ( I used to bite them) and had only one in Aqua marine for my toe nails..

It's a beautiful golden shade with fine shimmery particles in it..  I also find it to be reflecting berryish tint and it looked amazing on my silk saree :)

The brush is Okay, not very long but sturdy.. I felt the bristles were a little not in place.. Wish they had a wider brush that would make the application a lot easier :)

Cool Gold Shade

I was always a little scared on carrying gold on my nails because of my skin tone, but I am sure this one will suit most of our ladies...

I hadn't kept it on for more than a day coz I had a meeting with my dept's Director the next day and didn't wanna go with golden nails..

May be  I will update the same post if  I decide to wear it again and keep them on for a longer time...

Amway Nail polish - Crimson Storm

Hello Everyone..

This review is about Amway's nail polish in Crimson Storm.. Amway is an MLM company that is fmaous for their medicinal products, protein powder etc. I heard about their nail polishes almost a year ago, when one of my mother's friend had gifted it to me when she knew about my nail polish craze ( marketing strategy a.k.a free sample) I was not much impressed with the nail polish that time, why? It chipped the very next day.. I never looked behind Amway for nail polishes since then..

Recently, Shivani had posted a review on IMBB and had mentioned that it stayed on for 4 days... I was placing order for some stuff one ebay and found a deal where you get 4 nail polishes for 400, where one is around Rs. 135. I instantly placed an order I received the package after 2 weeks and found only 3 nail polishes in their.. The one that I raved for the most was not shipped. I contacted the seller who never replied until I gave a negative feedback and refunded my money though.. So that was my story about Amway.. And here is the actual review:

I had purchased 3 nail paints actually, Crimson storm, Nutty brown, Honey Glaze... I liked all 3 shades, I wanted to try out the crimson shade as I don 't usually carry Maroons and cran's unless for some occasion

This is such a beautiful shade and can be worn on traditional Indian occasions... There are micro shimmers that makes it an "Indian Shade"

Overall, I am happy with Amway's nail polishes now.. They are quite good in terms on pigmentation and staying power.. I will be buying more shades as and when I find a rep..

Maybelline Coloroma - Nude

Hello Everyone...

Today I would be reviewing about my recent love - Maybelline Coloroma's Nude... I am totally in love with this shade, a beautiful pink shade that would suit our Indian skin tones:)



Like I had mentioned, this is a beautiful pink that would suit you the best. Be it informal and casual attire.. It's a warm pink, that you'll fall in love with :)

What I love the most in MB Coloroma nail polishes is their brush.. A long brush that make application easier and less messier... These nail polishes dry quickly, no hassle of waiting for a long time to get them dried so that you carry on with other work...

At the last, to it sum it up the yay's and the nay's.

<3 Easily available.
<3 Total worth for money ( Rs. 85)
<3 Dries really fast, a very good applicator and the brush...

:( The cons are common for the entire range, the polish is sheer and you need multiple coats to get the actual color on...


 :( Chips/ Peels in 2-3 days.. Not a big con for me though :)

It's raining Lip Glosses

Hello Everyone....


I would like to begin with a small update.. One of my nails broke and I had to cut my nails.. It so broke that I am now left with almost no nails.. I would not be doing much of NOTD's till they grow back.. Even if I do, they would be from the pics that I took in the past!!

Now moving on , I am soooo accustomed to night shifts that I don't get any sleep during the nights.. Think I am transforming in to bat/owl/vampire.. lol!!!!! I was getting super bored that I thought I would get creative.. hahaha!!!

I had a few broken lippies, some complementary lippies that wash me out.. Thought of applying my art of playing with colors there as well.. lol!

 I followed the same method mentioned here. I had a lot of broken ones as well, so made my batch..

Here are my new lip glosses, that I made at 1:00 AM.. lol

I had already made two lip glosses, actually 3 of them ( missing one ).. One of them is a pink shade and the other one is beautiful red (vermilion) color..

I didn't find any container, I used vaseline's box..

So here we go with my lippies :)

Most of them are with pink/ red undertones, so made one brown, these were made from complementary lippies from Lakme , I think for a purchase more than Rs. 500.

 I used empty Lotus and Jovees lip balm tubs to fill the glosses..

Let's look at the Individual tubs and their swatches - A very closer look so that you can see the actual color..


This one is a pink shade, I made this from Avon's lipstick ( i don't remember the name) and vaseline, which lightened the color and made it a perfect daily wear color :)

And here is the swatch:

This one is a mauvish pink, which was worn on a daily basis and with a little drama can be used as a  party wear..

I am not a big fan on brown, it makes my lips look darker and makes me look old.. I had some lipsticks that were not suiting me even by a kit... I looked completely washed out, mixed a few browns with some red shimmer eye shadow to get this shade.. I am not sure how much it would suit me, but looks kinda good and wearable with a lip liner.. 

 This is a very pigmented color.. I used Lakme's enrich satin and found it to be very dry and less moisturizing. Added 3 drops of olive oil and 5 drops of bitter almond oil.. I still feel it dry, but its the most pigmented..

 And while making the last one, I ran out of vaseline, but had Jovees lip balm in Lavender which I didn't like at all. Mixed it with some eye pigments that my sis had gifted ( German praaducts :P) to get this pink shade once again.. I think either I am obsessed to pinks or I am not mixing my shades properly..

This turned out to be a gooey , unlike the other one, but glides on smoothly

Next is the one, that I made a little ago.. I didn't find lip balm tubs so I used Vaseline jar..

The tub's lid got messy, it got tripped from my hands when I was about to cool it.. Thank god, I had closed the lid while carrying it from Microwave to Fridge ..

Here is the swatch.. The most pigmented one, and its one swipe :). I use it mostly as a tinted balm, I used half a jar of vaseline.. Its very moisturizing...
